Starboard
Starboard turns your community's reactions into a highlights channel. When a message collects enough ⭐ reactions (or any emoji you choose), Diski reposts it to a starboard channel — the author, the text, the first image and a Jump to message button — with the current count on top. The count follows the reactions: more stars update the post, and if the count drops below the threshold the post is removed. You can run up to 5 starboards (1 without Premium), each with its own emoji, channel and threshold. Diski only reposts a message when everyone who can see the starboard channel can also see the channel it came from, so a starboard doesn't show people messages from channels they can't read (see Channels Some Viewers Can't See for the details). Free for every server.
Enable Starboard
The switch at the top of the Starboard page, for every starboard at once. Starboard is on by default, but nothing happens until you add a starboard. Clicking the switch saves at once — no Save needed — and the bot picks it up within about 15 seconds. While it is off, reactions are ignored and posts that were already made stay where they are; the settings stay visible, and trying to change one offers to turn Starboard on.
Starboards
Free servers can have 1 starboard; Premium raises that to 5. Each one watches for a single emoji and posts to its own channel, so you can have a ⭐ starboard at 3 reactions and a 🏆 hall of fame at 15. Two starboards can use the same emoji as long as they post to different channels — a message that reaches both thresholds shows up in both. Switch a starboard off to pause it without losing its settings.
Starboard Channel
The text or announcement channel posts go to. Messages written in any starboard channel are never starred themselves, so the board can't feed itself. If you move a starboard to another channel, posts already made stay in the old one.
Reactions Needed
How many different people must react before a message is posted (1–100). Only real members count: bots never do, and the author's own reaction counts only when "Count the author's own reaction" is on. Super reactions count too, but each person only once. The same number decides when a post is removed again.
Emoji
Pick any standard emoji, or paste one of your server's custom emojis — type \:name: in Discord to get the <:name:id> form, or paste the emoji's ID. ⭐ with or without the emoji style marker counts as the same reaction.
Ignored Channels
Messages in these channels are never starred — useful for staff channels, memes you would rather not highlight, or an announcements channel. Picking a category covers every channel in it, and picking a channel covers its threads. Up to 50 per starboard.
Channels Some Viewers Can't See
Diski only reposts a message when everyone who can see the starboard channel can also see the channel it came from — a thread counts as the channel it's in, and private threads never qualify. So a message from #staff never lands on a starboard the whole server reads, while a server that hides everything until members verify works as usual, as long as the roles that can see the starboard can also see the channel. Diski checks every role on its own (bots' own roles don't count), every role a channel is hidden from — a No Spoilers role that can't see #spoilers keeps #spoilers off any starboard that role can still see, so hide the starboard channel from that role too if you want those messages there — and everyone given access to the starboard channel by name (people who have since left the server don't count). If it can't check them right now, it changes nothing — no new post, and no post removed — until it can. One gap is deliberate: someone kept out of a single channel by name can still see that channel's messages on a starboard they can read, because honouring every individual channel ban would switch the whole channel's starboard off. Because each role is judged on its own, a private starboard — for example a staff-only one, whose viewers see the other channels through a different role such as Member — needs the switch below. Only server administrators can switch on "Also star messages from channels some starboard viewers can't see" for a starboard, which skips this check — and moving such a starboard to another channel needs an administrator too. Turning it off removes those posts the next time their reactions change. Permission changes are picked up within about a minute.
Age-Restricted Content
Always on: a message from an age-restricted channel is only posted if the starboard channel is age-restricted too (a thread follows the channel it's in), so adult content never lands in a channel everyone can see. This rule can't be switched off.
How Posts Update
Diski recounts a message a few seconds after its reactions change (a burst of stars is counted once; on a very busy server an update can take up to about a minute), edits the post when the count moves, and removes it when the count falls below the threshold — including when a moderator clears the reactions. If someone deletes a starboard post by hand, Diski treats that as a moderation decision and never posts that message to that starboard again. Deleting the original message takes its starboard posts down too. Mentions inside starred messages are shown but never ping anyone. Editing the original message doesn't change a post until its reactions change again.
Permissions Diski Needs
In each starboard channel: View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links — Diski edits and removes its own posts by their ID, so it needs nothing more there. Wherever messages get starred: View Channel and Read Message History, so Diski can read the message and see who reacted. New installs grant Administrator, which covers all of them.
