Reaction Roles

Reaction Roles lets you create interactive Discord messages that automatically assign or remove server roles when members interact with them. You can choose between three display styles: emoji reactions, clickable buttons, or a dropdown menu. Each panel is configured independently with its own channel, message content, and set of role options.

Live / Draft

Toggles whether this panel is active in your server. A Draft panel is saved but the bot won't post it or hand out roles; flip it to Live to publish the message and start processing role changes.

Panel name

A display name for this panel used only inside the dashboard to help you identify it. It does not appear in the Discord message sent to members.

Channel

The text channel where the bot posts (or updates) this panel's message. Members must be able to see this channel to pick their roles. Changing the channel re-posts the message.

Display style

How members pick roles. Reactions: members react to the message with an emoji (and un-react to remove the role). Buttons: clickable buttons under the message toggle roles on and off. Dropdown: a select menu — the tidiest option when you have lots of roles. You can switch styles at any time; your roles carry over.

Message

The text and/or embed the bot sends as the panel message. Write plain text, build a rich embed, or combine both — this is what members see above the buttons, dropdown, or reactions.

Roles

The individual choices members interact with to receive a role. Each option maps one emoji, button, or dropdown entry to one or more Discord roles. For emoji panels the emoji is required; for buttons and dropdowns a label is required and the emoji is optional.

Dropdown placeholder

The greyed-out prompt shown on the dropdown before a member makes a selection, e.g. "Select a role". Dropdown style only.

Unique roles

When on, members can only hold one role from this panel at a time — choosing a new one automatically removes the previous. When off, every option toggles independently, so members can collect as many as they like. Applies to button and dropdown panels.
